Andrew Denton investigates the stories, moral arguments and individuals woven into discussions about why good people are dying bad deaths in Australia – because there is no law to help them.

Documentary

This film follows adventurer Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia.

HBO – The Night Of

After a night of partying with a female stranger, a man wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder. A similar premise to the Paul Kelly song “I don’t remember a thing”.

Vinyl

HBO‘s story of American Century Records’ founder Richie Finestra. Produced by Martin Scorcese, Mick Jagger, Rich Cohen (Rolling Stone Magazine) and Terence Winter (Sopranos/Boarwalk Empire). Bobby Cannavale and Ray Romano are both brilliant, as is Olivia Wilde.

Cleopatra – the Lumineers

Another great album from The Lumineers, their second studio release.

The Obstacle is the Way

Ryan Holiday’s ‘quake’ book, The Obstacle is the Way, delves into stoicism and how to use it as a philosophy. The most influential book I’ve read to date. Ryan is also the author of Growth Hacker Marketing – another invaluable short read.

Making a Murderer

The popular Netflix documentary about Steven Avery. Is it wrong I found parts of this funny? C’mon look at Steven’s dad’s overalls.

Tim Ferriss/Josh Waitzkin

The prodigy returns. Josh Waitzkin rarely speaks publicly and when he does it is well worth listening – as are all the podcasts on the Tim Ferriss Show.
